Gilpin Spa Lodges

Refined, minimal elegance was the foundation to the design. The client’s brief was to create 5 luxurious spa lodges each with their own private gardens nestling into a field in an undeveloped area of the hotel.

To link the new lodges to their environment the facade materials were chosen as reflections of the Lake District landscape. Native larch cladding, Cumbrian stone walling, and a sedum roof ensured that the visual impact of the lodges is minimal.

The spa suites appear simple in form the exterior. A curved stone wall protects the building from the elements whilst the gently curved larch façade completes the Yin and Yang design.

Although the lodges appear minimal from the exterior, this builds to the surprise of their luxurious interiors. Each lodge has its own steam room, sauna, treatment area, hydrotherapy hot tub, a private walled garden and stunning views of the Lake District fells.
