Gilpin Cocktail Bar
Ben Cunliffe Architects were engaged by Gilpin Hotel and Lake House to create a new and exciting cocktail bar adjacent to the public lounge. This would serve as additional lounge space, a piano bar; and to house and display their extensive wine selection.
The challenging site was banked into stone which had to be excavated to locate the bar at the ground floor. In lieu of a pitched roof a flat, slate-flagged terrace was procured which also served as a garden to the bedroom above.
Ben Cunliffe Architects also undertook an extensive re-modelling of the gardens adjacent to, and surrounding the site, to create a very tranquil external bar and luncheon area.
