We were thrilled to read all about Ben Cunliffe Architects in the eight-page article in the November 2017 issue of The English Home.
Featuring a private residence designed by Ben Cunliffe Architects in 2010, this gorgeous family home is nestled in the fells above Winster in the southern tip of the Lake District National Park. With its beautiful grounds and its own private lake this was a dream project for Ben and the team of architects to work on.
Designed to maximise the wonderful views of the Lake and surrounding woodland, the house is upside down with the kitchen and living areas on the upper floor and bedroom accommodation situated on the ground floor. Each bedroom faces the lake with French doors onto terraces and lawns. Light featured at the top of the clients’ wish list so large French doors and windows feature in all the rooms. In Ben Cunliffe Architects’ signature style the beams and trusses in the roof have been left exposed to create a light and bright atmosphere.
The house is heated by what is thought to be the UK’s very first water source heat pump, the pipework is hidden beneath the lake absorbing heat from the water and transferring it to the house. It is very much in Ben’s ethos to design a home that is environmentally friendly as possible.
This is certainly a home worthy of many a glossy magazine feature.
