After a year of designing, planning, fundraising and building Crosthwaite School has unveiled its new classroom to great applause.
Crosthwaite School is blossoming rural school serving the Parishes of Crosthwaite, Winster, Underbarrow, Brigsteer and Cartmel Fell. Pupil numbers are increasing year on year and as a result teaching space is at a premium and a new classroom was required urgently. Unfortunately, there was no public funding available for this venture so Ben Cunliffe Architects donated their design team and produced a clever room in roof scheme in an attempt to keep costs for the school to a minimum. The result is a new light and bright classroom in the roof space of the existing Victorian School House, an intervention room and new library. Staff and pupils are delighted with the new addition to the school.
An official opening of the new classroom will take place on 21 October 2016.
