Grasmere House
Situated on the fells above Grasmere village, we were asked to create a bespoke and innovative private new residence in the heart of the Lake District National Park. The design is contemporary and modern and was inspired by tropical houses which have a central courtyard garden at the heart of the house. Every room of the house can be accessed by passing through this beautiful central atrium.
Although modern in design the building is tied to its environment by using local stone and slate contrasting with a range of modern construction materials including a steel roof.
The environmental performance of the building is excellent with borehole ground source heating, super insulated fabric, and spatial arrangement to maximise passive solar gain.
