Lake District Pool House and Outdoor Pool
Our clients approached us to design a discrete outdoor exercise pool in their garden with a modest but elegant pool house that would provide an area to sit and contemplate together with changing facilities and housing the plant required to run the pool.
Ben Cunliffe Architects set about designing this stunning outdoor swimming pool and pool house by nestling it into the hillside garden of a traditional Lakeland property, where it would be screened on all sides by beautiful landscaped gardens and mature trees and shrubbery.
Although contemporary, the design of the pool house compliments its rural surroundings, blending seamlessly with the dry stone walls that surround the property. Utilising local grey Lake District stone cladding and the beautiful blue Burlington slates, the building remains sympathetic to the traditional Lakeland vernacular, whilst the deep over hanging eaves and blackened larch provide a contemporary twist to the design. The slates and stone are reclaimed, creating the illusion that the building has been here forever.
The pool was provided by Cheshire Swimming Pools and Spas and is run by an air source heat pump discretely hidden at the rear of the pool house.
